Title: Disabling stock skins?
Post by: Bunny on December 08, 2004, 05:13:33 PM
Is there a way to disable the stock rider skins in mcm2 so that when you have the ai turned on, they will be set to use the skins you have downloaded?

Thanks

Yeah it would, just want to knw if there's a file you could delete or something so they would be forced to use your skins.

It would be possible to create something that would let you replace the stock skins with other skins.  You would have to replace them all and you wouldn't be able to select which ones a specific rider had.

The updated Bike Switcher will make this possible, but it will also require a utility to convert the skins to the internal format, map them to an internal skin name, and build a package that contains all the skins.  The skins are named things like

FOX02_360Black_08.tga
FOX02_360Green_08.tga
FOX02_360Navy_08.tga

The internal tga isn't a normal tga either.  I don't remember if it is the same orientation as a user created skin.  I'll need to dust off a few things to check it out.

The same could be done with the bikes.  We can add this to the "Wish List".

Once I finally finish the new Bike Switcher (tentative name is MCM 2 Package Manager), there are several things like this that will be possible.  We need to look into exploiting them and work on the stuff that makes the most sense.

The sound works in all versions of Bike Switcher.  It only manipulates the 16 bit sounds that will be the same in the new version also.   If you have your sounds set for 8-bit then all the sounds stay the same.  This actually gives you a way to switch between the standard sounds and the custom sound settings while in the game.

Under Options on the Sound tab is a "Quality" setting.  It needs to be set to "16-bit".  It is explained in the Bike Switcher help file.  Here is the appropriate section of the help file.

Quote
Sound Setups:

This is undone by restoring ENGINE.RES

This option lets you set 125 and 250 sounds to the sound of a 4-stroke. This changes the 16 bit sound only. If you have 8 bit sound selected you won't hear the 4-stroke. You can quickly change between the 4-stroke and 2-stroke sound by switching from 8 bit to 16 bit sound while in MCM 2.

I pretty much don't use chat programs.  Just e-mail me any questions you have.  It's the best way shy of a phone call.

Just an idea, the same goes for the stock skin packs where they will change the skin to all factory riders, or what ever rider, and include the program that change the mcm2 stock names to an pack all togather. Where you can race people like RC, CR, k-dub, and so on off-line....  ;D
