Title: MTX - SX Editor = DL my Dirt Werx Track!
Post by: AMA_King on November 26, 2004, 07:01:43 PM
I have been playing with the SX editor a little bit and it has some potential.
I created a quick SX track and saved it... and then I tested it... and it sux!
I'm going to take another whack at it and post a link to the DL (watch this thread).

There is no way to export tracks, but if you go your MTX folder and look in the GAME > SAVE folder
you will find the *.TRK file.

We should be able to DL the *.TRK file, save it to the x:\MTX\Game\Save folder and race it!

FYI - My game install folder looks like this:
E:\Games\MTX\Game\Save & my track file = AMA_001.TRK (16 KB)
- yours might be in C:\Program Files\MTX? or C:\Aspyr\MTX? etc.

Has anyone tried to choose a user SX track via IP or in Game Spy (GS)?
UPDATE - I tried it and it is NOT possible...

Has anyone made a REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD user made SX track?
+ we had enough 9-12 year old SX track creators in MCM 1!
BUTT - if you made a GOOD one, I want to try it!

** PS ** I'm not going to post a crappy SX track... if I can't make a good one, there won't be one!

does that mean that you will be able to tweak the .trk file?

Well, I opened the file in Notepad and it is a series of numbers - that typically mean N, S, E, W coordinates and elevation heights!  Sooo.... I am willing to gamble that the user SX pieces are tweakable... but probably only for single player track sharing...  Therefore, the only way to compete on user created SX tracks would be similar to using a utility like the old X-Times or Full Throttle app and recording them to a lap times database.

I've been trying to make a GOOD SX track but it is tough to remember all the pieces and how much approach space you need to clear a certain series of jumps, etc.  I started a SX track tutorial in WORD but eventually went off to play the built in tracks...

I am going offline now to make a SIMPLE track that I can post here to see if we can even share user SX tracks.  I am VERY confident that we can...

wow - good news.  so if we can share the trax, that's great, but if we can find a way to create fully customizeable ones, well, then the sky is hte limit....

OK, this is all I have time for tonight... give it a shot...
You can make a very smooth lap, and hit everything in rythm...
It will take some momentum in some places and some brakes in others...

Feel free to tweak it , rename it and post it back up somewhwere!
I will have to see what kind of LAP TIME I was getting and post it too...

DOWNLOAD MY SX TRACK HERE:
http://troysweb.com/mtx/AMAKing001.TRK

To load the track:  Save the file you download - "AMAKing001.TRK" - to your - x:\MTX\Save\Game folder.
Start the game and choose the EXHIBITION mode, then CREATED TRACK, then choose - AMAKing001

All i can say about the track is, WOW.  Youve done a very nice job on it and i truthfully never thought that the sh*t editor could make something half this good.  Im definately going to start messing with it now.  As for the files Im def. going to look through them and see what I can edit (probably not much).  Thanks for the info and sick track!,  Blue

Kick A$$ lap time Goat!  Congrats!
My best lap during 2 / 5 lap motos was 1:41:87 w/ a 250cc 2-stroke.

Also - Thanks for the compliments guys...  I was frustrated that I couldn't get a better rythm going w/ this track.

I even started a "Dirt-Werx-Tutorial.doc" to catalog the different track pieces and tried to start a list of certain pieces that work as combinations and even tried to keep track of the required "runway" and "landing strip" space required for the combos to work... but - OMG!  That was WORK!

Ultimately - I just put together a few of the sections that I liked and HOPE EVERYONE will "GET" THE RYTHM I WAS aiming at for the launch and landing points.

I typically make tracks with longer then normal lap times and the with BIG AIR jumps... usually over a "gap".  Sooooo... my next SX track will be a tight, technical, 60 second lap track.

See ya' at the races!

PS - PLEASE POST your lap times and bike specs!

Well done King, very enjoyable :)

I think the start lap makes for slightly faster times with the run up?

After a couple of quik tries I've done:

1:28.78 (start lap)
1:29.08 (better lap 3)

450cc Mod

Avg 35fps

Not bad at all King!

Only thing that I could harp on would be that all 180 corners should have complete (not partial or half-half) berms. But I just did the corner a bit differently and it seemed to work out ok. Without a berm to rail on that corner and with a pretty clean lap I was able to get 1:28.18 on a 250cc Suzuki that's partially modified. (I haven't been through either of the Master's series yet...but finished the rest of the MX and SX)

I think if I got out my Yamaha yz450f...I could probably knock a second or two off of that time. Maybe more... fun track though! Thanks for the ride.  8)

BTW- I have 7 different profiles going so far. I've finished the game (except for some of the freeride and freestyle stuff) 6 times though. My goal is to get a profile with every different make of bike. So far I have Puma, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki. I still need a honda and I THINK that's it! Hey come to think of it...if Bartram is in the game...shouldn't there be KTM's in there too?! lol Just a thought!

I was just informed that we can run USER SX tracks via IP!

I am going to go test it now (with TEAMSPEAK running) an report back!

BTW - TeamSpeak is frickin' COOL!

I haven't tried yours out yet but I made one. It's kindof more technical with some hard sections but they are definitely doable...I've ridden it like 150 laps so it takes some practice. Let me know where to upload it.

I don't have any "uploader" system... just e-mail it to me!
I'll store it on my website and then e-mail a DL link back to you.
Then you can create a new thread w/ your SX track title and post the DL link...
