making reflex tracks isnt easy, and its a lot of work, but these vids are aimed at the total beginner and if followed step by step, you should be making pretty good tracks soon!!!
ive only done 1 video at the moment but stay tuned for the rest.

Great tutorial bud, its very well explained so far :)
Just a request for the next step in the video...
To explain to people about the scale number. I see afew people on various message posts etc, that dont understand why their scale gets smaller, as the number increases. I read this somewhere, may have been in the wiki, but here's the explanation...
Terrain height (in feet) = 2048ft / Scale.
so obviously, scale 10 would mean maximum height of 204.8 feet, you probably already know this anyway :P
Also when I first start a track, I will make a hill on my map as high as it can go. Then I will go into the game and see whether the scale is what I imagined.
Keep them coming Al, you've done a good job! :)
Great idea... ::)
Thanks for your contribution!
I wish I had more time to work on it...
Al, please check the message I sent to your you tube e-mail. Thx
Keep up the great work man! Looking forward to Pt 2, not sure if there is anything you need any help with but if so feel free to message and I'll let you know if I'm capable or not ;D
JUST ADDED VID 2
the link is in the first post!
cheers al167
PT.2 was awesome work al, it would have taken me months to stumble across those photoshop techniques. shift-clicking..... who knew??!! setting jump height with the opacity??!! WHAT??!! ..... and then the gradient tool... that's some serious high level jedi stuff! Be careful when you open photoshop because al is running around in there with his light saber lol. I'm starting to think al is secretly an ex-rainbow studios developer.....
just added part three in the first post.
cheers al167
just added pt 4 how to make jumps, whoops, berms and ruts
just added part 5 - how to finish your height map and smooth it.
cheers al167
Great job..

I split the topic about import height map scaling to here (http://twisteddirt.com/smf/index.php/topic,3191.0.html) to keep this thread on topic..
Laurie
just added part 6 how to make a topdown map

Can you point me to any new / better info?
I think everything in those tutorials should still be pretty relevant. Not much much has changed, just additions to what was already there. The help file in DE is of course a good place to start, as well as a few threads on here where guys have asked for help.
