Just joined. Any possible way to play MCM2 online or is that completely 100% dead?
Dunno if anyone races still but theres a site called MCM2 Rawks on i thinks its called. there might be people to race on there. havent checked it out myself..
I think this is what you mean..
http://mdxracing.com/membersonly.php
They have online racing and some still build tracks i think..
Laurie
Is this THE "x_GreenOgre"? If so it's great to see you check in here! I still remember uploading my first track to your website when MCM first came out back in 1998. Man that was a long time ago!
Pete
Yah that is me. I been playing MCM2 with my 8 year old lately and was poking around on some of the old MCM websites. How have you been? What happened to MCM2 online?

I've been bored waiting for a good MX PC game to come out. I still have hopes for 2XL to release something this decade. ;D
I think it MCM2 has been gone from The Zone for a long, long time. I would guess it is no longer on GameSpy either.
Hey Laurie, does the TD Zone still work? I haven't tried to use it in several years.
Pete
It's still up and seems to be running, but i can't get on to the server to do maintenance anymore and haven't heard from Scott in a while.
I have no idea how to get a hold of Scott. The last time I tried his email's I got no reply.
Pete
Is that a way people play online? I can't seem to create an account there.
MdxRacing.com has a zone and from what i've seen regular organised races as well as casual racing. I have never used it but there seem to be quite a few that do. You can also hook up on TD Zone, you will need to download the client side program Startgate which you use to login and find or host races. Once you start the race the game is launched. I haven't seen anyone use it for a while so you will probably have to arrange a race beforehand you won't be able to drop by and find a race in progress..
So yes both are ways to play online. Which can't you register on?
I tried all the emails i have for Scott and no replies, I left him a PM because every once in a while he drops by but no word yet.
So they figured out how to actually emulate the zone? I have a server on the network would definitely host something if I knew what I needed.
It's (the TD zone, i don't know so much about the Mdx zone) not so much emulation but basically a chat room that launches the game and intercepts the results from the game and sends them onto the server.
Well the slow economy has kept me inside the house more often and i decided to bust out some old games, I would love to try and get back into MCM2 again as my computer wont really run (and isnt as fun as) MX vs ATV. I would love to see this game fire up again. I currently dont have internet at home and my new joystick is in the mail but I have a feeling I will be wanting to race online in the near future.
Didn't you have fullthrottle.net?
Alot of the oldies From OTHG TTM and many other teams hang out at http://www.mdxracing.com (http://www.mdxracing.com) Ray has just reopened registration as of last night. 3 Recorder tracks contests a week and a Saturday night tournament every Saturday night, tracks for the tourny are posted on thursday so you have 2 days of practice :P we run 2 tracks 3 times each take the best trt from those 3 races on each track. The gate drops 8 pm Pacific time. We had 8 riders last week We would love to see all of you guys over there and run some laps for some good old fashioned fun DUST OFF THAT OLD MCM2 CD and rip it up!!
P.S. Laurie I really like the start gate functions but im having a problem launching on vista i can host on mdx zone and people can join me my router is set to dmz. Keeps telling me cannot initilize lobby I unblocked everything in my firewall I'm thinking its a vista issue but im not sure, has anyone else ran it on vista?
Goose
i haven't tried running Startgate under Vista, i just gave it a spin but realised that i need someone to join my game before i can launch so i haven't been able to test ithe launch functionality. I'll take another look and see what i can find..
..the problem is that the version of SG that is on the site is a beta that i screwed around with and the launch process is messed up. I have a new version of SG but i can't get onto the TD server at the moment (for a few months now) to update it.. I'll find somewhere else to put it.
Ok i have put a new version up in the StartLine section inside the forum - http://dirttwister.com/smf/index.php?topic=2501.0.
Note: For those who haven't used TDZ before you need to register through the web site (by clicking the link 'TD Zone' in the menu above) and then use the StartGate program after you have registered. StartGate can't login unless you already have an account registered..
This is probably a few months too late, but I thought I'd post it anyway:

Dunno why I've kept that screen capture around for so long; I guess it seemed like a momentous occasion at the time. Anyway, if GreenOgre comes back to read this thread, I just want him to know how much I appreciated MCM Empire and X-Times. Pleasant memories, for sure.
Also, it's nice to know that guy didn't completely fall off the face of the earth.
P.S. Can anyone remember what the site was called BEFORE Ogre changed the name to "MCM Empire"? That's been bugging me all morning...
that was a hard page to come acrossed
I suppose mcm2 central turned out to be just as great (better?) for mcm2 though
I always liked MCM Empire's upload/download system, the method in which it was run, and especially their track review system - but MCM2Central.com filled the void quite nicely and was the brainstem of that game for several years. Speaking of which, here's another old screen grab:

It's kind of a shame that Kamshaft ended up flaking the way he did with MVACentral.com, but that just provided an opportunity for cR to step up with MGF/MXHQ. It seems that, no matter what, there's always someone willing to help - which is probably the main reason this community still exists 11 years later.

I believe it was called "MCM Tracks".
That's it! Thanks Bulldog. :)
