could you guys point me in the right direction to build or even maybe pay someone to make a recorder?

Sorry i don't have any experience with a recorder. The zone for MCM2 that i wrote was a comletely different beast to a recorder. You might try the TTM recorder guys but you will have to find where the time data is stired by the game, that might be a place to start..

how do decode the saved.dat file?

is it compressed or in anyway encrypted?
