Title: New Track Contest
Post by: VRT_RIDEBLUE on July 26, 2004, 01:35:23 AM
well now that the TD forums are back up I thought i would mention that team VRT is holding a track contest with 2 classes, beginner and expert, with a great points system for the "unknown judges" (lol) and the main goal in the contest is "Realism" we are looking for the most realistic Nationals, Supercross and Enduro track to date, would love to see some old timers open up Dillo and Dillo Too again! Thanks to MdX Racing and Team VRT, this should turn out to be a great contest, so make sure you read ALL THE RULES and format, and you beginners now have a place in a track contest, so view all the info http://www.bluescreations.net/vrt_home.htm

Uploads start Aug. 1st and go until Aug. 31st  (note:the Judges will not have any tracks until all of the tracks have been entered, this way all the tracks get the same amount of track time) Also make sure you look at the points system and notice there are more points available for the way the track rides!

Hope to see YOUR track soon!
Thanks VRT_RIDEBLUE65

if you enter the beginners one,  do you use everything stock?  even placing the textures how dillo does   by using the spline to denote where the on and off track textures go?

or can you render the textures out side dillo  but only use stock?

The info on the website says " 2 classes, expert and beginner  (experts can use what ever it takes) Beginner tracks have to use stock objects, stock textures, stock sky cubes.! "

Textures all stock in beginners class, the reason is some guys dont know how, and that can make a big difference, so this makes the playing field even ;D

ok perhaps i didnt make it clear enough.

in dillo you place a spline.
then u choose on track and off track and edge of track textures,  hit the button and there layed.

is that how you want it done? ? ? ?

or can we take the stock textures and render them in whatever proggy  then inport them? ? ? ?

hopefully that explains it better

fingers X-ed 3rd time lucky  lol

OK I C now, no custom rendering, just what Armadillo creates after the spline is complete, this is for the beginners, alot of them don't know how to render in pov-ray, max, bryce etc..

I think I'm also kind of loseing intrest alittle bit, which is a total drag.
Plus I'm like never really satisfied with a track layout that I make, I usually delete them.
Hopefully I can bust out a nat or sx for this. Just for a laugh.

i think that the brake from dillo and track making has been a good thing i got all blown out because i was making a track finnish it and bang into another, after a while what was fun becomes mundane and no fun.
today is the 1st day in a long time ive openned PS up and enjoyed ALT - TABBING back and forth making little changes moving on and riding it a bit. and i cant wait to get into terragen and start playing with textures again.

so if ya feel lost in it step back and do somthing else and them come back with a new lease of life.
