Title: placement maps on stunt tracks
Post by: dklr on January 29, 2006, 08:49:55 PM
I used a placement map on a stunt track recently, with some odd results. The tutorial says the track area is a 256x256 square in the middle of the map, but when I do it that way, the trees are in a square on the middle of the track. I tried enlarging it to 512x512, but then the trees extended past the edges of the center tile. How big is it supposed to be?

Your placement map for the center tile should be 1/3 of the total placement map size.
say if your center map is 512x512 - paste that into a 1536x1536 world map, the bigger the map the more accurate it is but the harder it is to work with- I've used maps @ 4800x4800.

Nice simple explanation.  I was thinking a picture would be needed to explain it.
