the intel graphics controller will NOT work.

You'll have to get a ati or nvidia video card.

the hp 716n has a AGP slot.

There is all kinds of cards out there. I am personally a "nvidia guy" however the ati stuff is good also.

I would start with the 6000 series on nvidia and x series from ati

here are some nice cards. Just depends on how much you wanna spend

ive played the game on a nvidia gforce3 128 meg.(cheapo card) and it played ok.

I ended up getting this one because I saw it while I was walking through Sam's Club.  And I have wanted to pick up Far Cry anyhow so it looked like a good deal.

It helped a ton with FPS and everything looks 100% better since it is DX9 complient.  Although all the SX tracks are still real low FPS even if I add fog with Bruce's utility.  I'm guessing it is my whopping 1.4 GHz Pentium 4 processor that is the problem now.  I sure wish they would have added LOD to the objects when they ported it over.

Ya a LOD option for the terrain like MCM2 has would make a huge difference for slower PC's.

Well even after putting the new video card in my system I can't run with any other bikes in the game and SX are still laggy as heck.  I'm only running a P4 1.4 GHz processor and can only upgrade to a 2.0 GHz.  I'm not sure it's worth the $150 that it will take to upgrade the processor though.  Is anyone else running a P4 2.0 GHz that can confirm that it runs the game properly?

Pete.. I have a 2.0 Ghz Pent. but it's running a 64 MD card.  I will put in a 128MB card once I get my new 256MB in my current system.

If it runs fine w/the 128 I think you may have a shot.
