Title: Controller problems
Post by: The Loz on December 12, 2005, 04:44:10 AM
I dusted off MCM2 when I got my Logitech Cordless Rumblepad II, thinking "finally, analog controls", but I've tried all the various options and the game just doesn't pick up the analog sticks. I dunno what's going on TBH. :( The sticks work just like keyboard controls... reach a certain point and it cuts straight to 100%, which is lame.

Any ideas?

Although it SAYS so in your controller setup (at least I think it says so)...MCM2 does NOT support analog control over throttle and brakes. I have a Saitek P2500 Rumble Pad (with analog/digital sticks/buttons) and I can STEER/LEAN with the left paddle..but the right one doesn't work for ANALOG control although you MAY be able to use it for gas/brake. I seem to recall when I tried it I could use it for either gas OR brake but not both (up for gas/down for brake).

Hopefully the new MXA will be analog compatible. I know that the consoles are...so it SHOULD be all good. The best part about analog control IMO is being able to control the AMOUNT of throttle/brakes. Looking forward to ripping it up soon...I hope that the release date on Amazon isn't just 'wishfull thinking' and is actually correct. I'm sure everyone here would agree...the sooner, the better!

I found out about the analog acceleration thing... sucks :( But the left stick doesn't work for steering either. Which is just confusing...   :-\

Are you selecting a gamepad or a joystick in MCM 2?  You probably need to use joystick.

Bruce I have tried it as a Joystick and it has no analog sensitivity, you can't hold the bike at a certain turning angle. It's all or nothing! ???

metal_miracle, I'm pretty sure it's not the mode light 'cuz the analog sticks don't work when the light's on ;)

my analog steering on my ps2 handle i use works. do you have the proper drivers installed? i used to have a logitech gamepad with analog that worked too, but the analog broke in like 3 weeks. but it never was "all or nothing" like a keyboard. anyways nice to see you around Loz

metal, do your analog sticks work for analog steering then? What option do you choose in the controller selection? I'm pretty sure I have tried them all but to no avail.

Crash matey good to see you too :D I'm sure I have the proper drivers installed, the analog works in everything else - 3 need for speeds, 3 prince of persias, colin mcrae rally 2k5, THUG2, fahrenheit... the list rolls on...

Worst comes to the worst, I'll wait for MVA :P

EDIT: I have the latest drivers now, no good.... :(

Yeah, I have calibrated it, and I only have USB2 ports. The pad works fine in every other game ever. Do you get true analog control with yours then mate?

I'll be making some tracks for MVA for sure. I'd do another MCM2 one but I can't handle this digital control :P

Have you tried a full reinstall from the CD? I'm at home for Christmas at the moment, but I'll take the CD back to Uni with me and try it. Not hopeful though :-\
