Title: New Dillo Too release
Post by: mcm2boys on August 15, 2004, 11:20:41 PM
I have an old beta of D2 that has been sitting around for a while but it has some of the features people have been asking for recently so i thought i would release it. Unfortuneatly i didn't save the soruce from this beta since it was a work in progress so i can't update the version number before release, thats why it says beta.

The main features it has is the ability to move and rotate whole splines, place objects so they orient to the ground automaically and micro adjustments for moving objects for fine adjusments. I have also improved the vehicle path tools so you can continue to adjust the path if you don't place a point correctly right up until you save it.

You can download it here:

It doesn't contain the DLL file if you need that too you can get it here:

Have fun with it,
Laurie

my only prob is when i go to switch my sky cube it boots me and also when it first loads up it says there is a problem the the max radius and max height but besides that it works great.  its not the sky cube because i used the other d2 96.6 to use it and it worked

I did do some ork on the sky cubes i think it should handle the bigger cubes, where the sky goes further down behind the horizon, looks like i need to do some more on it though. Are you switching between standard cubes, modified cubes, stock or custom cubes? Or is it just every time you switch cubes?

sorry laurie it was me im just an idiot,  it works great i thought that i had used the sky cube before but apparently not as it was only 25kb.  the editor looks great too with the sky looking the way it should.

WOW... I missed this thread.  Just wish I was at college to download it onto my pc.  One question tho laurie....  The way I understood it, you can place objects and they automatically adjust to the terrain?  Like say I pace a bale on a jump face it adjusts to the angle of the jump?  Or did I misunderstand you?

You got it Sky...and if Im right it even rotates using the last object coordinates but just a few degrees more or sumthing...dunno how to explain...try it...

great job laurie,  thats a wicked improvment on D2,  i think that was the only thing that was a nightmare was the object moving abilaty,  now it looks less of a headache.  my latest track for blues contest i used D2 for everything apart from loading the map at the start and laying the spline out.  i realy like D2 i cant see why some people dont.
great job.

Ian.

Yes Sky it does that and just like cR said it aligns the object with the last object placed. This is really meant for bales - so when you lay them around a track they are roughly in the right place and alignment. Some of them will still need tweaking but every little helps.

Thanks Ian, i found when i used D2 while making a real track that the micro adjustments were really necessary too. Now i just need to find a better way of selecting the objects that i can implement. :)

Most of you probably don't remeber me, but I've been around for a long while (think 3D-Designs). Anyway, this is great. I've only used Dillo Too for very little up till now. The spline stuff is much easier than Dillo and the nudge mode for objects makes the placement alot easier. The auto bale orientation thing is an awesome idea, however, I've found that one national tracks where only a few haybales are needed at a time, alot of tweaking is still needed. I think that it would even better if you could just align the bales yourself from above then have a command that just rotates the other axis' to align the bale with the ground. If you could do something like that then I think the object placement process would be greatly sped up. Anyway, good job. Now I've got to get the rest of those objects placed in time to make the deadline for the Blues Creations contest.

i think itd be cool if you moved one of your objects if there would be a button to  make it re align with the ground after you moved it

Sounds good to me i'll add it to the todo list. Just got to work out where to put the button. Maybe the ground orientation thing should be a toggle button separate from the bale rotation. So it orients objects automatically and then if you select the bale placement mode it adds the alignment part in a swell.
