Title: APM question?
Post by: VMX_krazyman821 on August 15, 2004, 10:15:45 AM
Iv'e used APM hundreds of times but this time, when I process my prj.file,it doesnt give me an activity log in notepad anymore. It does say it was processed ok,but it doesnt give a readout. Is this ok?Everything seems normal and nothing crashes.

before you hit process  make sure that the "View changes at completion" is ticked. it sits just under the "process" button.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I've been on vacation...

First check to see if Notepad is still functional.  If not, you may have some serious problems that need looking into.

If it works fine, then it probably just lost the association of TXT files with Notepad.  This can happen if you install something and then uninstall it and it doesn't restore the file association.  Try this and see if it works again (assumes 98SE so may vary slightly with operating system):

1. In Windows Explorer, select any TXT file.
2. Shift-Right Click on the file and select "Open with..."
3. Select Notepad as the program and check the check box to always use this program to open that file type.

Hope that helps...

Jeff

about a week ago, my notepad was MIA as well. It just vanished without a trace. Yet the exe was still in the system32 folder. I just created a new shortcut from that to my desktop and all has been peacy since.

look in c:/windows/system32/notepad.exe (I'm on XP)
