Title: Dillo 2 new user question?
Post by: VMX_krazyman821 on April 30, 2005, 09:10:37 PM
Hey all,Ive been doing tracks for about 3 years now and never used Dillo 2 since it came out. I tried it last nite with a test track.I made a password and the help section said to save it at that point and click pack.I did and it said I wouldnt be able to open it again. So I didnt do it.I exited out and went back in and my prj. file was gone,so I gave up.
Really, all I want to do is manually place my trees and weld my perimeter tiles.
Can I add my objects in Dillo 1 like usual and then go into dillo 2 and place my trees? If any one has a great understanding of Dillo 2,can you give me a shout here or on MSN?
My Messenger name is :   musicman1221@hotmail.com

Dillo 2 intimidates me for some reason.... ;)
Thanks in advance.

Can I just say.. Like yourself, I also had to learn the hard way. When you click pack, you have to click "no" if it isn't ready for realise. Read the text. It tells you.
But once you have it, it changes your .prj file to a .env file. So you can't open it back up with dillo1. Make 2 copies of every project file.

That's a bit misleading, D2 doesn't change the PRJ file at all, it just remakes the ENV file. And Dillo can sometimes open the ENV again unless you have used one of the D2 features that isn't supported in Dillo. D2 will re-organize the spline so if the track has a spline and most probably it will after packing then Dillo will have trouble with it.

Like Robbo said it's best to make a copy of the Dillo files towork on with D2, that way you can always go back to how it was.

i never had problems going back into armadillo and opening a project after using dilltoo.
i have even exported my files to from dilltoo to armdillo, but, i use the apm before i open up
the project in aramadillo. while using apm you will get an error come about the scn file, but that can be ignored and carry on as normal. just a thought i can pass on.
have fun regards chris
