lol ya i know but its practicly the only thing that I understand to make the shadows
Then render a solid white tex in terragen. Use that as a shadow map. Set the overlay to Multiply overtop of some PS tex. Viola... you have shadows. :)
you can play around with what alex said.. another kewl option is the overlay one. brings a slight burn to it aswell then set the opacity down the about 50% to 75%
so far on pontiac

I'm new to pasting images. Just practicing size and what not.
very nice :o
Well I think I've got it! Â This track was used for the 2005 THQ Round08 Atlanta track map on ESPN2. Â We had very limited time to finish it so the textures are about 1 hour of work and I think I missed a raised corner. Â I hope to go back and polish it. Â I have all 16 maps if anyone is interested in seeing them. Â They are not 'race day' correct but follow the track map as it was presented to me from Dirt Wurx. Â Hope you like.
-DIZ-
yeah defentally post them up here.. you making them for MX vs ATV? maybe we will be able to download them?
thats cool as hell DIZ :)
One more! Â This is fun!!
-DIZ-
Anyway you could loan them to an MCM2 creator to put in game? If so Im interested. :D
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y185/DIZ_No_Rebase/Round01Anaheim1wireframezoom.jpg)
Cool ghosted wireframe shot that shows jumps and berms better. I might just release a few tracks, not all. I'm just getting back into the mix so hopefully sometime next week I can look deeper into doing something like that.
-DIZ-
Sounds awesome man.
maaan these pics make me wna open up ps:) looking very awesome, fawkin amazin job u got there a rainbow man wd. really look forward to some being released ;D

houston
(http://native.hab-extreme.com/images/houston-preview-1.jpg)
houston is looking good! i forget is houston where reed and bubba were side by side in the heat race?
btw are u gonna do vegas lodge? your reps so far have been really good i think u can only get better.
thanks dave. yeah reed and bubba had a good heat race but the main bubba walked away
DAng!!! i need to check out this forum more often....DIZ! Yours were the first tracks i think i ever downloaded. I remember your reps, i personally liked them the best back then, the tracks had depth, as in the height of the start lane, and in between height of the jumps were different, and so on, just like in real supercross, not like some where its one height all the way around from start to finish, with just bumps and jumps added on top. ANyways, those renders look amazing! The thing i wish we had more of in mcm2 was environment though, i know it takes tons of time to make objects, but i think mx vs atv had alot better environment then mxu. anyways, hopefully i will contine on with my redbud project thoughout the rest of this year.
very cool guys,
ben
hows the track comming lodge>? i need another thq rep he he.. i really hope u maek vegas dude i think u could pull it off nicely.
got skymx touching up displacement, but will for surely do vegas. then i downloaded daytona sx so that comming too
sounds great dude hey ,btw i personally loved seattle it was rutted to hell and i liked it man good job.
i did up vegas while sky works on houston
DAMN DIDNT THINK I COULD DO TEXTURES THIS GOOD WITH TERRAGEN ;D
(http://native.hab-extreme.com/images/las-vegas-preview-1.jpg)
lmao texs lick
Nice shots Diz, I thought you guys made those track renders for ESPN when I first saw them ;)
Blacklodge, the sides of the jumps and outsides of the berms need to be blured a lot more, it looks like those berms could cut you in half if landed on hehe.
This is not a 2005 THQ SX track, just a Twisted SX Night render which I updated the scene awhile ago with a new crowd.
very nice twisted.. u got any renders of Twisted MX2?
twisty, that trk is fukin badass. prob int he top 3 best sx of all time... and DIZ, well good *#*#* man, showin em up on looks, smoothness n flawlessness on textures/disp maps. i can see u got alot better since u did the whole series a LONG time ago. lol
He works for Rainbow he has to be good. ;)
how are u goin to do the split at the start they had lodge? i would just make it not split because once they finished the first lap they whent around the hole thing one way anyway.
vegas update what you guys think of terragen textures?
Don't use em. Terragen is not the way to go. Especially for SX.

vegas update what you guys think of terragen textures?
The textures look a bit dull to me, more color would help a lot.
Also the berms need to be lowered and blured a lot more, especially the insides of the berms where they blend in from the flat part of the track look very sharp which MCM2 wont like very much. Are you using gradients for your jumps? If so what are the gradient settings for the bigger jumps in photoshop? if that is what your using?
Terragen isn't great for SX Textures, Maybe use it for the shadows only..
Just thought i'd say, those berms could use a little more blurring, or at least stretch the inside so it isnt so steep..
ok how about this http://native.hab-extreme.com/images/vegas-max-render-2.jpg
Ummm.... The ruts don't match the dirt color and are too wide.
im not going to use terragen just practicing, but thanks for the replies, helps me out alot as soon as danny get the textures done ill have two thq reps to upload after i place objects
Quote from: HaB_BlackLodge1 on May 20, 2005, 09:20:35 PM
ok how about this http://native.hab-extreme.com/images/vegas-max-render-2.jpg
The berms look better in that pic.
Whats the "smoothness" setting on the jumps in photoshop gradient?
If it's at the default 100% for each gradient, try 50 to 70%
i got psp7 but must be kinda same so the slider that says 100 should be about 50 to 70 ok thanks twisted. ive never messed with that before, and knowing half the battle

ok how about this http://native.hab-extreme.com/images/vegas-max-render-2.jpg
Much better :)
Before, the berms were so steep the bike would have just slid down them if you didnt have the speed to completely rail it..
looks good dude ;D can't wait for the reps and i also thank u for fixing the berms hahah.
houston should be done soon check render out!

i think your tracks are good...
haha lmao a few of my tracks has 1000+ d/ls nd ur tracks justr get over 500. so zip it
I didn't say anything about my tracks. I would like to see you create a national worth riding.
lol name me 3 track of urs that had 1000 + downloads. and then name my tracks that had just over 500 if you will do your research you will find out that i have released like 10 tracks that got an average of 500 - 700 downloads. Now its your turn.
blacklodge m8, on them renders i can see where the jump start and ends thus making the ride less smooth i think (can't say for sure because i haven't raced it.
here's a track i was making before i quit mcm2.
http://www.teamdelete.org/mcm2/DSX01.jpg
As u can see it has nearly no visable jump edges. and take a look at the berms to they are less steep, which i think would work perfect for your track.
your doing great m8 keep on tweaking.
damn metal thats tight, but yeah twisted was telling me about that smoothing them out. and houston seems to ride fine but i know what your talking about, im not going to tweak houston anymore. but vegas is pretty smooth that one will be one of my top ones cause ive benn tweaking that for a grip now imo.
two_four_ go and...... nvm lil boy lol

If only. At least then he would have an excuse.
two_four this isn't a download contest as far as i know, if you don't have useful tips on how to improve the track then why say anything. Your comments don't help Blacklodge1 improve his track and this site is about building better tracks.
Laurie
I think that track looks really good lodge, cant wait to ride it. D dub did a really nice job on the textures too.
im helping him by saying that he needs to take more time on his tracks b/c there way 2 easy one a 125. everyone on mcmfactory said they overshoot mo stuff nd all his sx's are wfo. ive never seen a wfo AMA Sx race
For me this is ok..

Not everyone who reads this thread has read the threads at factory so if you make a point over there you can't expect everyone here to know about it, so you might want to repeat the post here or link to Factory so we can see what your comments are.
and finally keep in mind that, just because you don't like things about a track doesn't mean the creator has to change it, they still have the right to make it how they want it. :)

ive found that twofour is very picky with what tracks he likes/ doesnt like. he is an ass, and since he hasnt released a track forever, i think he should keep his mouth shut when it comes to the bad things he says. if you really want to show him up 24, then make a better track than his. or give him ideas on how to make them better, not just "noooooooooooo good" as quoted from factory...

actually i have been working on vancouver for the last 5 months nd yes it iwll be 90% perfect unlike some ppls tracks who SHOULD spend more time on them
you just need to calm down. People release their tracks when they are happy with them whether they are perfect or not. Not everyone has the skill level of a pro yet, everyone is learning. If you want them to spend more time on their tracks and produce better tracks, than tell them that and give them constructive critisism on how to do that. Bad mouthing someones track does not make them want to try harder, but some good critism does. From personal experience, im no pro at all, but my work has gotten a lot better over time due to a lot of helpful people teaching me and telling me how to do things and how to make things better. If i started making tracks and someone was bad mouthing them, i would have quit. I am looking forward to your track, but why settle for 90% perfect?
This is just me, but everything I have released onto the internet for several games since 1997 I only released a project if I was happy with everything on the project. If I wasn't 99% happy with a project I would never release it to the public and just keep it to myself, both US OPEN SX 01 and Twisted SX Night were rushed and finished early in the morning for contest deadlines leaving them 99% finished. I dont think anyone can be 100% happy with a track as theres always limitations to certain things, where always learning new things which is what makes it fun and challenging. If everything was easy it would be boring and we wouldn't have the motivation to continue on improving.
Here's the last track I made for Monster Truck Madness 2 back in 2000, you cant see the elevation changes properly on this pic which I never took but I based several uphill and downhill sections on Glen Helen and added a uphill triple like Red Bud. MTM1 and 2 was so slow making track textures for as you had to make them in 64x64 pixel textures and place them on tiles around the track to make the visual path. Laptimes on this track were over 4 minutes in MTM2.
