General Discussion MCM 2 / TDzone - Startgate
« on: April 02, 2014, 04:20:08 pm »
Quotes from this subject : http://twisteddirt.com/smf/index.php/topic,674.0.html

I recently opened TDZ to everyone, though you have to register at the TDZ first before you can use it. You used to have to be a member of TD forums because the forums and TDZ were both on the same server and so it was easy to copy the data across automatically from the forums to TDZ, but now they sit on different servers so that's no longer possible. This also helped to keep the idiots out. I would prefer that people using TDZ were registered on the forums mainly because that's where all the update info is released but i guess it isn't necessary.

The order of registration is pretty much like you have it here's a little update:

1) With your browser goto http://www.twisteddirt.com/zone/index.php. This is the TDZ home page where you login and get to all the other good stuff - like the Help page!!!.
2) If you are not already a member of TDZ then register here first, otherwise you can login here and go to your profile page.

Note: Use the name you ride with in MCM2 as your username since this is the name StartGate uses to log you in as well. If your username isn't one of your profile names then Startgate won't be able to log you in.

3) Download the latest Startgate program and unzip it anywhere you like, i created my own folder 'C:\Program files\Startgate'.
4) Read the Startgate Help file! There's usefull information in there for newbies.
5) Run StartGate, at the login page select the rider profile you registered with on the TDZ and enter the same password you registered with. Then press Login. :)
6) Enter a Lobby by double clicking on one in the list, then you can Host or Join a room and chat - like you would on the MS zone. Press Launch when you're ready to race.

Notes for people behind firewalls or routers:
Startgate can't always detect your internet IP address when you are behind a router or firewall, if this happens to you then 1 of a number of things may happen:

1) People trying to join your room will get a message like 'Can't enumerate connections on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'.
2) You may join a room and when you start the race you will get booted back to Startgate.
3) You may start up MCM2, but when the race is launched you are booted back to the Main menu or Startgate.

The fix for this is to check the 'Prompt for IP' check box at the login screen. Then when you host a room or join a room you should be asked for your internet IP address. If the address starts with '192.168.xxx.xxx' then that is your local network IP address and not the Internet IP address.

Another issue for people behind firewalls and routers is port forwarding. You will need to make sure that the following ports on your router are forwarded to the local network IP address for the computer you are racing on. Otherwise you might get the same problems listed above.

47624 TCP Inbound
2300-2400 TCP Inbound
2300-2400 TCP Outbound
2300-2400 UDP Inbound
2300-2400 UDP Outbound

How you do this depends on which router you have. Ask around - most routers have been used so somone should be able to help. If you already have it set up and working with MS zone then it should work ok here too. If you cannot set up port forwarding then you may need to put your computer in the DMZ instead - if you don't know how to do that also ask around as it's hardware dependent.

That should be about all you need to know to get started.

Have fun
Laurie

Hi, that's an old subject, I know, but I'm wondering if the TDzone is still working.
We need a time recorder for the MCM2revival community, and when I try to connect to the TDzone, it doesn't work.
Only new registration is working. Also, Startgate can't be downloaded.
Thks in advance.
Phil.  ;)

Yo TD crew (I like to say that  :) ),
I have a problem with the shadows in D2 (97.4, 97.3 too).
When I apply the shadows, all the map is shadowed !
I have this problem since D2 97.3, thats why there isn't shadows on my latest tracks lol.
Any idea ?

BTW, 99999 X thanks for the latest MXU nationals tracks !

General Discussion MVA / Screenshots request
« on: December 12, 2005, 03:42:07 pm »
Anyone have some nice screenshots unavailable on the official sites ?
Don't post pictures from THQ or other game previews...
I want to see your best SS from your PS2 or Xbox game, just to have a good idea of the game... and to see how the ride is with that game.
Bikes at the startgrid, bike settings, rider settings, game settings, ...

That thread is made for people doesn't have a PS2 or an Xbox.
Thank you.

I have a problem with the splines...
I'm making a track and on this one I want to create big shortcuts (cutlines). But after some tests, I have often the 5 seconds penalties when I cut the lines and I stay between the left and right splines !
Is there a tip in Dillo 1 or 2 to fix that ?
I have tested in Dillo 1 ... putting points of the red line front of the points of blue lines, nothing change...

Any idea ? or I must put the red line in the middle between the blue lines ? but this is weird with the AI riders and when we are respoted after a crash in this area.
TY.

Edit : the shortcuts I want are really bigger than showed on the example picture.

General Discussion MCM 2 / MCM2 COMMUNITY INQUIRE
« on: October 25, 2005, 04:59:51 pm »
http://new.petitiononline.com/mcm2c999/petition.html

Hi all, the MCM2 community is wondering who's still playing Motocross Madness 2, many years after the launch of the game.
After the " We need a MCM3 " petition, this one is an inquire started in October 2005.
It will only take a few moments for you to fill in the inquire, so please do so.
Thanks in advance.
MCM2 community.

Bike and Rider Skinning / TD Bikeswitcher / TTM recorder
« on: July 25, 2005, 03:31:04 pm »
Hi the engineers  :) ,
Is it possible to use a Bikeswitcher bike model and the records are recorded as stock models at TTM ?
Usualy the new models are posted as 'New/Unknow' but it isnt interesting.
Maybe we can 'rename' the bike models as 'stock name'... dunno.
I really don't want to cheat, its because the last bike models uploaded are really better than the stock ones.
Can you help me about that or it isn't possible to do what I ask.

Stock modified and accepted like a stock at TTM :
(really not clean in the game, too much pink...)

New models unaccepted by TTM or posted as Unknow model :
(awesome models but I cant use them with the recorder)

Everytime I play MCM2, on/offline, my recorder is on... I hope you see what I mean.
Phil.

Thks to ImageShack for hosting the pics (http://imageshack.us/)

Hi all,
In DilloToo (0.97), I put the fog on maxi (cuz I have a special track under construction who requires full fog) but in the game, the fog is so far and really not enough like I want it.
Why i need a full fog ? It's a replica of a national track where it rains often (lol) and I want to put an autumn theme or something like that (rainy weather?) with some thunder sounds (like +/- Slackjaw MXU nat 8).
More fog will help me too because this track have a ton of trees and i want to put the lag down for the old pc owners.
Can you help me to put more fog like it looks great in D2 ? Any idea ?
Thks (sorry for my bad english, I speak like a SpanishCow sometimes lol).
Phil. ;)
